Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe has re‑emerged as a fantastic safari destination, anchored by Victoria Falls – the world’s largest sheet of falling water. In Zimbabwe, you view the Falls from the western side, with a series of paths offering breathtaking viewpoints of the Main Falls, Devil’s Cataract, and the spectacular rainbow‑filled mist. For thrill‑seekers, the town of Victoria Falls offers bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls Bridge, white‑water rafting in the Batoka Gorge, and helicopter flights over the Falls. Beyond Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest park and a wildlife powerhouse. It hosts huge herds of elephant and buffalo, plus lion, leopard, and the endangered African wild dog. Hwange’s waterholes make game viewing reliable even in the dry season. Further east, Mana Pools National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a true wilderness. Canoe safaris on the Zambezi River here are world‑class – you paddle alongside elephant, hippo, and crocodile, and walking safaris are permitted. The Eastern Highlands, near the border with Mozambique, offer a cool escape with mountain scenery, waterfalls, and hiking trails – a perfect contrast to the heat of the lowveld. Zimbabweans are famously welcoming and well‑educated, making guiding excellent. With renewed investment in tourism, Zimbabwe now offers good value, comfortable lodges, and a safe, rewarding experience for safari lovers.
